Scholarship Description:

The scholarship is open for the dazzling UK and European students.  The scholarship is to pursue the MA in Writing Poetry for the academic year 2019-2020.

The bursary will provide 100% of UK/EU tuition fees worth up to £7,400.

Eligibility Criteria:

To be eligible for this studentship, the applicant must have applied to take the MA in Writing Poetry before applying for the Award.

Applying procedure Instructions:   

1. Applicants must e-mail the following documents to Scott Burdon by the deadline stated

    • An up-to-date CV (maximum of 2 pages in length).
    • Transcript of undergraduate marks.
    • Research proposal of 750 words* (excl. bibliographies/lists of references).

Please ensure that the email is clearly headed ‘Writing Poetry School Bursary Application’.

  • 2. An Applicant must ask two referees to send their reference letters to Scott Burdon
    ([email protected]) by the deadline stated below. It is the applicants’
    responsibility to ensure that their referees meet this deadline. Your references should be
    from those who are best placed to comment in detail on your creative work and potential for
    postgraduate study.
    *The research proposal must address the following questions:
    • How have your undergraduate studies – or equivalent professional experience of relevance?
    – prepared you for the Master’s programme?
    • How do you intend to use the Master’s programme to further your area of poetic interest?
    • Why is Newcastle University or the Poetry School in London the best place for you for
    embarking on postgraduate studies (e.g. in terms of resources, areas of research strength,
    research Centres and Institutes)?
